Seven days was an extremely short time for the massive country of Australia. We wanted to do as many things as possible, so we planned wisely and visited three cities: Cairns, Melbourne, Sydney.
Cairns is a small city in the north-east region of Australia. The main reason we went there was to scuba dive the Great Barrier Reefs (check out this post for pictures). We had one day in Cairns where we did not dive, so we decided to check out river boarding. River boarding was like great water rafting, but everyone had their own “raft”, and you paddle with your swim fins. It was really fun, but it was a bit short and quite expensive.

Melbourne was a beautiful city. I would like to live there.
Great Ocean Road
We took a day tour of the Great Ocean Road. I whole-heartedly recommend going with a small tour group, rather than a huge tour bus. There were only three others in our tour group, so our tour was really welcoming and personal. We made many stops along the Great Ocean Road with breathtaking views – many of which most of the “big bus tours” do not go to.
We did a day trip to Blue Mountains, a mountainous region two hours away from Sydney. It was a bit rainy which was unforunate, but it was still a relaxing day out of the city.
I am extremely happy with the amount of things we got to see within the short amount of period that we had. However, I definitely would like to go back in the future to explore more of this beautiful country. It’s unfortunate that it’s on the other side of the Earth than where I live; but I would definitely urge you to go if you have the opportunity!
